I am on my first lesson and already have a question.
When "Como está" is pronounced what I hear is:
(phonetically in english): Comb Shta
Should I actually be saying an O sound after Comb and do I need to have quick eh sound before Shta? When I say it after the male speaker I can imitate it perfectly but sometimes I swear I hear him pronouncing the O a bit.
Thanks for any clarification.

Hi David,
Nice question :)
You should pronouncing the o after and must have the eh sound before. Phonetically in English : Komo ehsta.
Hope this helps!

Yes. When I hear Paulo speak it is confusing me a bit.
I think it is his accent. When you speak I hear each word. With him - they blend.
It has taken me a while this first lesson. I feel like I am going really slow but I am trying to master what is being taught- so I am listening/practicing many many times.
It would be really nice if each word in my vocabulary had an English Phonetic spelling. That would save me a lot of guesswork.

Hi Dave,
Thanks and you are right, his accent is from Rio de Janeiro and my is from Brasilia :)
The English Phonetic spelling is a great idea! I will see if we can do that.
Thanks again!
Tereza.

Hi David,
Thanks for signing up for the course, and for your feedback. I hope you are enjoying your lessons so far.
The great thing about My Vocab is that it allows you to add the translation yourself as well as add notes. I recommend adding your own phonetic spelling to the Notes section.
All the best!
