when is it proper to use do que and is it always necessary in this context or optional?

Hi Michael, You can use "do que" or just "que". They are comparative conjunctions and they are necessary when we compare two things with superiority or inferiority. E.g. "John é mais alto que Daniel" or " John é mais alto do que Daniel" In English: John is taller than Daniel Hope this helps :) Tereza.
