Hi Michael,
You can use "do que" or just "que". They are comparative conjunctions and they are necessary when we compare two things with superiority or inferiority.
E.g.
"John é mais alto que Daniel" or " John é mais alto do que Daniel"
In English: John is taller than Daniel
