Russian р Hard (postavelor) Trill After Dental

Hello!

I'm having trouble moving my tongue into place quick enough when hard p is preceded by a consonant, and I want to make sure I'm struggling with the correct movement. In a word such as утро, where hard р is preceded by a dental consonant, does the trill take place further up the mouth, or is the tongue pulled all the way back to the postavelor position immediately after the dental is pronounced, and then trilled?

Thank you very much for your help!

Здравствуйте, Ipsimus!

When pronouncing Р after all dental sounds, like Т, Д, С, З, the tip of your tongue shouldn't move too far up. It basically stays almost in the same place and just makes a subtle trill. Make sure your tongue is relaxed: it lies flat so that all the egdes of your tongue are touching your lower teeth. When pronouncing the hard Р sound, only the tip of your tongue moves slightly with a faint vibration - there should not be any marked up and down movements.
