Find out what actual users have to say about our courses through their Rocket Italian reviews.
Cannot say I am a motivated studier, especially in regards to new languages. I tried the competition's software and their immersion learning left me lost and confused. With Rocket Language I am starting out learning useful words and phrases and not stuck guessing how the word I am supposed to learn matches the picture as with the competition's software. The competitors version doesnt give me the English translation so I can solidify what I am learning. Hate that!
I find Alessando’s dumbing down side comments unnecessary and interrupts concentration. Childish, tedious and unprofessional. Thank you.
I received Rocket Italian as an xmas gift at my request after my old version of Rosetta Stone Italian became outdated and unusable. It has been a major disappointment and is so frustrating I've turned to the free version of Duolingo instead. All the cutesy little exchanges between "Alex" and "Maria" are infantile and a waste of time. So much time is wasted in these courses. It's hard enough to find time to study a foreign language without all this useless filler. Unfortunately between medical issues and Covid, I just recently started to use this software so I am beyond the 60 day return/refund window. I feel badly that my husband wasted all this money on this terrible app. Save your money and use Duolingo or if you want a real program go to Rosetta stone.
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Miki - The first level (featuring Alex and Maria) is a beginners level, so the amount of Italian introduced is gradual with lots of explanations in English. As you progress through the lessons/levels the amount of Italian gets greater and more advanced.
I am enjoying my Rocket Italian course. The lessons are well structured with useful information on some Italian verbs.
I like the fact the lessons are spoken at a slow speed before we hear the Italian spoken at a normal speed . plenty of opportunity to test your own pronunciation .
Keep up the good work !
Thank you
Overall this is a very good program.
*I compare this with DuoLingo online learning as well as a personal coach I use with Verbling. Also against Babble
which I used for 6 months.
*Price is kind of high but it is for a complete program so I'm neutral on this rating.
*Lessons are interesting. I could use less of the banter but still, very good content when focused on actual language
skills. Of great importance to me are the moderators speaking in a clear and moderate speed. Rocket delivers on
this!
* Now to my most concerning (to me) knock...Some of the exercises are terribly long in the Language and Cultural
sections. It's not uncommon to have 50, 60 or greater than 70 words, phrases or sentences to learn, memorize and
recite back. Personally, I get very frustrated when i fail due to sheer volume of material. Knowing how difficult and
frustrating these exercises are, I have to fight the urge to simply by-pass these sections. Reducing the volume within
Language and Cultural modules would be a huge plus for me.
Response from Rocket Languages
Response from Rocket Languages: Hi Fred - Thanks for the feedback! Regarding your point about the length of the lessons, we are currently reviewing all of the Language & Culture lessons, and the amount of phrases is one thing that we will be looking at. In saying that, having an abundance of phrases to learn is not a bad thing!
A good way to learn some basic language skills that can assist with getting around a foreign country.
This is a good way to teach people a new language, it requires you to actually speak the language and builds off what you learned, so you don't forget it.
So far level 1 of Rocket Italian is pretty easy. Spanish is my native language. My only concern is if the later modules will go more in depth into Italian slang (depending on region). From personal experience I find that most people who learn Spanish later in life use terminology that native speakers don't use. Or don't understand "improper" Spanish. Also out of curiosity, have you guys considered offering a rated-R version of Rocket language learning? Lol
The verbal, visual and written repetition on every day conversation is very useful. The language recognition software is pretty good but longer phrases get dropped occasionally.
The explanation of language structure is succinct and appropriate.
A big grazie to Maria and Alex for the easy going way of teaching! I like the length of each lesson, 15-20min, so you can easily squeeze into your daily schedule. Like the Rocket review before each new lesson. The interactive web features are so helpful. I also like Maria teaching grammar bits & pieces, instead of long boring lecture. I am in lesson 1.4, just love Rocket!
