Fish in Portuguese

The Portuguese are known for being a sea-faring people and this goes for most Portuguese-speaking countries. Brazil and Portugal, for example, have over 5,000 miles of coastline combined! With this much coastline, it’s no wonder that seafood is a staple in these countries.

In this lesson, we’ll talk about various types of fish in Portuguese. Some of these you might find on a plate garnished with lemon, and some you might see on a snorkeling trip or in a fish tank peeking out from behind some coral! Either way, this is important vocabulary to know while traveling.
