I have used other courses and this is by far the best. It matches my goal of being able to have a conversation with real people. I was even surprised that on the app for iPhone I was able to record my voice and match it to a native speaker. I feel that the time I spend interacting with this course is time well spent.
The price is an added attraction. In one service for Spanish in just two months you would have spent more money. So far this is a bargain!
I am finding the program difficult to use. I cannot access the written or quiz sections. It is also a problem trying to access the subsequent module. I wish I had purchased only Level 1. The opportunity to listen and have my pronunciation corrected is appreciated but I would like to be able to access the rest of the module segments.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Sarah - That is a strange thing to have had happen. Can you please contact customer support if it persists and we will get to the bottom of it.
I recently started with Rocket French and I'm quite happy. In just a few days my speaking and understanding has improved a lot. My native language is Spanish and that might make it easier for me to understand a lot of things, however the pronunciation of the language has been always something that has made me back up from seriously trying to learn. Now I feel much more confident about it. I'm really pleased with my purchase!
I love this program and I have tried many. It’s one of the few that I have actually stuck with. The repetition of hearing, voice recording and writing really help. I also like that I can easily see where I am in the course and my progress.
Ciao!
I am just beginning this Italian course and I love it!
I am thoroughly satisfied so far even though I am in the raw first stages.
I enjoy the way it is presented and so far am happy with my results and knowledge - I'll keep you posted!
Kindest Regards
Kerry
I am very happy with the course. I started learning German with a weekly course at the community college. Although I learned a good amount, I feel that with Rocket German, I am learning more since I use it practically every day. I enjoy the goal setting as well as the different types of lessons.
Having taken two years of French in high school, (and not really learning much), and then for the first two years in college, and forgetting most of what I learned, I've always wished to really learn it and and retain it. I had/have Rosetta Stone, and it wasn't bad, but I didn't like how the lessons are laid out and it just wasn't cutting it for me. I've only been using this for a short time, but I like how it's content is laid out much better.
The strengths: - The program is mainly focused on learning useful German from the beginning, familiarising the user with common interactions they might have early on.
- The podcasts are entertaining and stop the learning process from becoming boring.
- Easily recommendable, and from what I have heard from reviews of the product, Rocket Languages seem to care about improvements.
The weaknesses: I might be wrong on this, but I feel that a basic explanation of conjugations comes too late, and at first you are forced to entirely learn new words and not to figure out that a lot of different words are just conjugations of one word. For me, I was already familiar with German so this wasn't a problem. I would then recommend to anyone who is using this product and is completely new to German, to learn about basic sentence structure and conjugations from other sources to aid this course.
Great program the best that I have used so far. Love the fact that I can down load the audio and listen in my car The instructors speak slowly when they repeat the sentences after they speak at normal spoken speed. Also like the fact that you can print the transcript. I am currently at lesson 1.3 but am happy with my purchase. Would recommend this program for anyone wanting to learn Egyptian Arabic
I tried Duolingo, but after a few lessons, the repetitiveness became annoying. Based on a friend's recommendation, I purchased Babbel, but cancelled during the trial period. As a beginning Spanish learner, I found it to be too difficult to follow.
I did some more research and decided that Rocket looked to be the best. I have not been disappointed; in fact, I have been extremely impressed with the effectiveness of the interactive lessons and the many additional tools provided to reinforce the lesson material.
I don't expect to purchase any more language lessons; but if I do, it will be Rocket.
