Find out what actual users have to say about our courses through their Rocket Languages reviews.
In high school I took Japanese, in college Russian and Chinese, but that was a long time ago. I needed a refresher. I tried other companies' courses, but especially for Mandarin, Rocket is by far the best. Its competitors either go too fast, go too slow, or are simply inadequate. Rocket courses have just the right balance between depth and ease of learning. They also provide plenty of extra learning tools that I'm still exploring, such as flash cards.
After buying the Mandarin course and working with it for a couple of days, I was so impressed that I bought both the Japanese and Russian courses to do after my Mandarin review.
I gave four instead of five stars to "buy again" only because Rocket doesn't currently offer anything else I need. If the company added levels to Russian and Chinese, or offered a Modern Hebrew course, I'd buy those.
It is a horribly frustrating program. I have yet been able to download it. Only two lessons in two modules have been downloaded. To be fair one of the chat support people told me to call and she would guide me through the download, but I am tired of playing with the program and haven't called. After the download to the computer I have to download them to CDs. Oh help!
I love the user friendliness of the course. It is exciting, interesting and makes me want to learn. The native speakers are fun loving and truly awesome. I have every thing I need to become fluent in a short space of time. I love the testing and the grading system. The ability to test my speaking skills using the microphone is also a blessing in disguise. It boosts my morale and makes me want to learn all the languages offered.
I used to be terrible at learning languages at school. And also Hindi was hard in the beginning, but once I got the grips on it, it was so much fun with Rocket Hindi. There are multiple ways to learn, and I also keep a notebook (offline). The combination of all of that really helps.
This is a great product at a great price. I am impressed with the layout of the dashboard and the voice recognition. It has exceeded all my expectations.
I like the unlimited access online and I can practice anywhere, anytime.
Great program! Easy to use on a laptop and mobile devise! Learn a language on the go then come home and hammer it down with the additional exercises . The customer service is prompt with fixing any bugs and they genuinely care about your success with their program. I highly recommend this product!
I have been using RI for about 4 months after trying Rosetta stone (very boring) and Pimsleur (good but not quite what I wanted). I found that using RI I have a better comprehension especially when you use the extra lessons where you write and take some tests. Seeing, hearing and writing have made a big difference.
For the most part, I do like the course. It is an easy and enjoyable way to learn. I am taking the Italian course.
My only MINOR COMPLAINT SO FAR is the specificity of some of the lessons. In Module 3 of the Premium Basic Course, the first 2 lessons are waaaay too narrowly focused. The first concerns a trip to Mount Vesuvius with conversation about walking around the volcano's crater and how cold it will be on the summit(!) - a dialogue I really can't imagine most ordinary travelers having much need for, and the second deals with a certain Italian liquor called Limoncello. I skipped the bulk of the conversation portion of those lessons, except for a phrase or two. The extra vocabulary sections also had some benefit.
Now I understand that sprinkling a little culture, geography, and traditional customs is an attempt to broaden the course's appeal, but I'd personally find the lessons much more useful if they conveyed more common everyday requests and conversations. For example: asking where to buy a newspaper, rent/park a car, ordering a beer/glass of wine/soda and leaving a tip, chatting about the weather or someone's family, or complimenting/discussing another's clothes, jewelry, home, etc.
Perhaps that's just me, though. However, up until those 2 lessons, I felt what I was learning had broader adaptability and usefulness.
This is awesome...I mean this is the ideal site for learning Japanese..Its easy, cool and sufficient. People are gonna love this when they use it. I can hardly find any words to express my pacification. For now...arigato and sayonara.
Excellent interactive software. I wish this could have been available to me when studying languages previously. The interface makes it fun to learn and gives you motivation to push on for longer each day. I have recommended to a few friends now.
