I'm so glad that I found this program (I saw it highly reviewed on a blog). I'm using it to learn Arabic, and I'm really impressed with all of the ways the program allows you to practice along the way. You spend a lot of time actually vocalizing the words rather than just reading them or hearing them. The program records your attempts at each word/sentence and rates your progress with each one (100%, 75%, 50%, 0%). You can easily go back to the words that you're struggling with to keep practicing them. The lessons are very helpful, and they list the important phrases below so you don't have to try and find them again in the larger recording. It's equally great on the desktop or the app. I first started using the (free) app and liked it so much that I bought the Level 1 Arabic, and definitely haven't regretted it!
Great program. I've tried various (free and paid for programs) with varying degrees of success. However, this is the best program I've used yet and I love how interactive it is - listening, speaking, writing...I actually look forward to my daily Spanish lessons now! Hopefully, I'll be speaking like a local in no time!!
So I was already really into Rocket Russian...I liked how you could listen to the audio and have your speech tested as well, the speech recognition is actually quite good.
But then one day I realized that you can answer the "hard......easy" classification scheme after each question, by using the 1/2/3/4/5 buttons on the keyboard, and that "R" would initiate recording......now I am no-hands, baby.
Spasiba, Rocket Russian!
The amount of information here is staggering for a beginner like myself, however I'm lucky for 2 reasons.Firstly,I have been using Memrise for 18 months so many of the words are familiar to me and secondly my Philipinna wife lived in Japan for 25 years and is completely fluent in Japanese so I don't have a problem with the voice playback as I never use it.The customer service is fantastic and I would recommend this program to anyone,my wife says it is a bit formal but it's better to learn formal and go down than learn anime and try to go up.Great program guys, thanks to Sayaka san and Kenny san(he's ok for a pommy).
Very immersive form of language learning - you can almost feel the words and phrases being pasted to the inside of your head! I am studying French. Over the years I've tried a number of ways to learn. This is the best
Hi, I am a composer and I am 61 years old. That means on one side that I know a lot about memorizing music, that has - like language - also rhythm and sound. On the other hand my brain is not so young like a 20 years old person. That means, that I am happy for any help for memorizing the vocabulary, sentences, sounds, rhythms of the language I am learning. In my case that is KOREAN, very difficult to learn for a western educated person like me.
Overall I am very satisfied with RocketKorean! Thank you very much! I tried out many competitor's software on the net, but finally I decided for RocketKorean as the best I could find.
But, because I tried out many other software, and because I am a professional musician, I have some suggestions to enhance RocketKorean. But first I appologize for naming an other product: Pimsleur
Pimsleur has bad speakers in their Korean course, also for German the male voice has an Berlin-accent etc. Pimsleur also is very poor on writing skills and on Korean culture.
But one thing is more sophisticated and elaborated: the half hour daily lecture with a rhythm of repetition that was constructed by the brain scientist Pimsleur. Also speaking words by syllables backward.
I am enjoying the course a lot. I like the systematic way the material is delivered with plenty of practice examples and opportunity to repeat it as much as one likes.
The audio facility is excellent.
The only reason I am not there every day is too many other commitments.
Customer service very good but can take a bit too long.
Many thanks
Susie
Much better than Rosetta Stone. The practice things on-line really make me feel like I know the material. Downloading the lessons and listening to them (and talking back) works great in the car. You need to repeat them until they make sense. I paid the cheep price so I don't have written materials with the course, but it's not holding me back at all. I just had to google the things they say are part of the written materials, like the alphabet.
I'm really enjoying Rocket Italian. Previously, I had used Pimsleur a little, but was frustrated with its lack of written language and grammar lessons.
The Rocket program goes into the grammar and written lessons in depth, as well as providing the conversational Italian I was getting with Pimsleur. And the point system helps with motivation... So far I'm finding it to be a very thorough language program at an affordable price.
I'm from Italy, born into a family that speaks Italian. My family raised me to speak English, and so I've never learned Italian. I've always been interested in my ancestry and wanted to learn more. Though my English isn't the best, and I know a lot of Italian, this site really helps me learn more of the language. I recommend it to anyone with the desire to learn the Italian language.
