Pretty happy overall with the medium for learning. I often use it on the go, walking or driving, when I can't check the screen, so the spelling of some words are not obvious until I get time to review them. Otherwise quite happy.
Very nice interface with many opportunities to record yourself and play back to compare with the native speaker. I've enjoyed learning from the conversations, and also being able to practice participating in the conversations (playing the role of one person, then the other). The app for iPhone and iPad works well overall but has a few glitches with the voice recording function -- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The web browser interface for Google Chrome works perfectly. I am looking forward to continuing on in my lessons as I've only started module 2.
The content of the course seems good through module 1. The voice recognition has some challenges at times. An example is even though I say the phrase and it is recorded for playback, the system will indicate that it did not get it and therefore cannot validate it. The nice playback feature in Windows is not available in Android.
It's good so far, but I don't like being forced to write reviews to continue.
The best part about Rocket Language is that it is the most dynamic online courses, which makes it more interesting to start learning. When compared with other online lessons it is more interactive and fun, therefore I am more likely to keep on studying and tracking my progress.
I started learning French more than a year ago. It is quite an interesting language, though somewhat more difficult than some other languages for me. I find Rocket French easy to go with, structured, and with plenty of opportunity to practice. I see that after listening and practicing different sentences or phrases from the audio lessons, they stay with me. I am able to use them without much effort while practicing French in other contexts. The hosts are nice too, especially Paul and Marie-Claire.
One observation: when I practice the speaking, a few times I need to repeat the given word/phrase and it shows "Sorry, I didn't catch that. Please try again". Sometimes, of course, it's because my pronunciation is not be correct, but many times I give the same pronunciation consecutively- the first time is not right, the second one it is.
I've only a novice user of Rocket Language - it is highly recommended by the PC Magazine review. My review rating is tentative as I am an inexperienced user - but from what I see and hear it is very good. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2381904,00.asp
So with Rocket's help I am looking forward to the journey
- ifs its got to be, its up to me now.
It is a pretty good app compared with all the apps I have tried. Would like to purchase it, but there are a few concerns personally. Hope alphabet table will included in future. overall, I rate it a good language learning application. Will consider to get it.
So far Rocket French is a exciting, and user-friendly course. It keeps you on your toes and hungry to learn more.I may have only known two words of French before I started, however I hope to be fluent by the time I'm finished.
Like it so far, having a bit of trouble with the speaking part.
