If como estas means and you why in the vocab section is it como estas tu? It seems like you're saying and you you.

Hola, "Como estas" is actually ...how are you? (Informal) The use of "tu" in the script is just to tell you that estas is the informal you. If you were wanting to use the formal You, you would say "Como esta" possibly followed by usted just to illustrate the formal use although this would not normally be used in actual conversation. Remember the conjugation of the verb will actually tell you if it is the formal or informal use of "you". With the formal use (usted) it can sometimes be confused with El/Ella/IT so clarification can sometimes be required by using usted. Not so with Tu however since it has only a single usage and is therefore clear. I hope I have not confused you.

Apparently if I understand this correctly with como estas tu ,the tu is not spoken but only indicates informal usage

Don't forget those accents when writing in spanish. Leaving off an accent gives a word a different meaning. :-)
