Dear Darrian, I'm sure the best way is to listen to, repeat and only after that to write down. Just remember how all of us learn to speak our native languages in our childhood-first, we listen, then we try to repeat after our parents and only later on we find out all theser grammar rules and writing. I guess the best way is to use the Rocket Spanish practice part. Good luck!

Natalia, Thank you so much! I never thought of it that way. I'll try listening and repeating. I'm sure that will help me a lot! Thank you again =D!!

when i was learning German language i used to write the nouns on small papers and stick them on the appropriate objects. Because in Spanish language there is gender of the nouns too, you can write on a small paper for ex. UN CAFE and stick it on you coffee, and every time when you need and you take your coffee say it aloud UN CAFE. Also you can write in the front side of the paper just CAFE and on the backside write the gender UN. Than when you take your coffee you can say aloud the noun on Spanish and guess the gender. By the way i am just beginner. How old are you Natalia?

OscarLake, a small correction. It's "En qué le peudo ayudar" or "En qué peudo ayudarle" and not "En qué peudo ayudar." Generally, when you have an indirect object in your sentence you must have an indirect object pronoun (some exceptions, but they are beyond my level). Darrian W, consistent practice is probably the most important thing. Practice at least 3 times a week (preferrable more) and at least 30 minutes each time (again, more is better). Isolated practice will not be as useful. Finally, find someone else who either speaks Spanish or is learning Spanish and practice with them.

Darrian W., learning languages is hard because languages are a lot more fluid than most other things. You can learn history by rote memorization, but language does not work that way. Learning the words might help us understand a language, but it won't help us speak the language well. With that said, set realistic goals. If you can spend hours everyday and you also have the ability to practice speech on a regular basis, fluency might take mere weeks. On the other hand if you can only practice a 2-3 hours a week, fluency will likely take many months or even years. I try to spend 4-6 hours on Spanish each week. Sometimes, I spend less. My goal is to be able to converse in Spanish within the next year or so. I realize fluency will take longer, but conversation skills is my first goal.

Random1, That is true... I spend about... 2 hours a week. It does take sometime to learn! Thank you.

Check out the Advanced Learning Techniques under the "My Toolbox" section. Each one gives different tips and some may work for you.

Hi, I try to use Spanish everyday at home. Sometimes I talk to the pets in Spanish. It forces our memory to have to translate from English to Spanish. Understanding is alot easier than speaking and so I try to practice speaking when I am alone. Ask yourself, "How do I say that in Spanish?" Leslie
Darrian-W.

Darrian-W.

Leslie, Thank you. I do it alone in my bedroom. But I'm not able to say it aloud...

I've been using the advanced learning toolbox. In beginners lessons its actually great. If you follow and really read the advice from Mauricio it really helps. There are quite a few excellent ideas there. It's starting to become really fun for me. I enjoy learning and I also attend a free Spanish course at my library once a week which is great because I'm new and I feel very comfortable with having been using Rocket because I've taught them a few words here and there. Also, play the lessons via headphone over and over again. That has helped me because I don't retain easily.
