Hola todos !
Mi nombre es Darius
I am have been going through rocket spanish premium and also learning spanish like crazy. I am nearly done with LSLC and will be looking into another course to start soon. I was wondering which course (premium plus or platinum) would be better to start? I really want a course that has more subjunctive, pluscumperfecto, conditional, and future tenses...in addition to the past tense. I don't know whether the premium plus will give me that so much as the platinum will...does anyone have any experience with these?
Or will it just be better to go with the premium plus ?
Gracias !

Hola Darius,
Did you complete all three levels of LSLC? I could offer my opinion a bit better if I knew which levels you went through.

Ricardo

I am pretty far along in plus right now. While this level has covered other topics, it has spent a great deal of time on the preterite and imperfect tenses. As you probably know, there are a lot of irregular verbs in the preterite that you have to learn to deal with, and you need to sort out when to use the preterite and when to use the imperfect.
I think the subjunctive and other tenses come along in platinum. But each of these courses is built on knowledge imparted in the previous ones, so you might have to do some backtracking to catch up on missed topics.
I am using RS as my main learning tool, and I started pretty much from scratch in learning the language, so I am sure that I could not have been successful going from level 1 to 3. But if you have a better base than I, you might be able to pull it off. And if you find you can't you can always back up to plus and move up again when you are ready.

What's LSLC?. I am actually using my money's worth with Rocket Spanish. I am in the last phases of Premium Plus. I would probably continue, I hope with the same intensity as I have been doing this year. Looking forward to doing the Platinum. Might take me a few more months to finish the Premium Plus. I noticed that I have more questions now. I just trust that after the Platinum, I would be in a better place, proficiency wise. If I am in the same place where I still could not speak to the natives after the Platinum, I might just give up and start learning German. Unless of course if Steven K1 would start again, I would continue plodding along.

To Ricardo - I am finishing up nivel 1 of LSLC. I was thinking of trying nivel 2 since it covers more subjunctive mood along with conditional, and future tenses. But although i do like LSLC, I enjoy rocket spanish a bit more.
To Dan - Yes my college professor drill the preterito and imperfecto into our heads lol :) I feel I am okay with it...could always use more practice with it . I just feel as though I need more exposure to the other tenses as they are just as important but unfortunately usually reserved for last when it comes to courses.
To Aurora - LSLC is another language software where it is mostly oral/listening. It teaches conjugation and sentences structures through conversation and they try to train your ear to faster speaking...it can be pretty quick lol !! I have done the trial lessons for premium plus and platinum and I really liked them both !!

Hola Darius,
I am just about finished with Rocket Spanish, having gone through the Platinum course a good dozen times. I initially didn't do the Premium Plus course thoroughly and I wish I had. I still find going back over some of the Premium Plus material helpful. I would highly recommend you go through the Premium Plus course before tackling the Platinum level.
Saludos,
Steven
p.s. For info. I've forgotten if all the indicative tenses (past, future, ...) are hit in Premium Plus but aside from a few brief examples, you will only see the subjunctive tense (and all its flavors) in Platinum.

When I was doing the Premium course I spent a lot of time on each lesson, trying to completely absorb and fix the information in my mind. I think that might have been appropriate at the time, since I knew very, very little Spanish vocabulary and grammar, and nothing at all of verb conjugation.
Now I am more than halfway through Premium Plus, a few lessons behind Aurora, I think. I find that now I am more comfortable completing a lesson with less than total understanding. This is because a few months ago I began reviewing a Premium lesson each afternoon after my usual morning session with a new lesson. I plan to continue this process so I know I will see the material again. Also, by now I realize that as I move forward I will encounter information from past lessons in future ones, which will reinforce and recall that information for me. And as Steven just noted, with RS you can go back over the courses as often as you want. It is not a one-and-done process.
I also notice that as time has passed, I rely less and less on the audio lessons and more on reading and writing things. Maybe this is because my pronunciation is pretty good and also because I have realized that I am a kinesthetic learner.

Think of RS Premium as level 1, Premium Plus as level 2, and Platinum as level 3. If you like Rocket Spanish Premium, then get the next level if not both.

Hola Darius,
Dan, Steven and Robert have given good advice and summarized well what's offered in the next levels of RS. I have been through Nivel 1,2 &3 of LSLC , Premium, Premium Plus and Platinum of RS, the Platinum not quite as much in a "studying" mode. I waited until I had completed RS Premium Plus before I tackled LSLC and for me that was a good approach. Also, back when I started RS one could download the grammar books Beginners and Advanced all at once and I went over them intensely and still refer to them when needed. Now what I recommend, is to go through Premium Plus then Nivel dos of LSLC, which as you've said, covers a LOT of tenses and is very intense. This will give you a good foundation for the next level of either programs. I think both RS & LSLC are great and I found them complimentary. Sorry for such a long reply, but I couldn't answer succinctly. One last thing, LSLC periodically has sales for members which I availed myself of when I bought Dos & Tres.
Saludos,
Ricardo

Thank you so much everyone for your help !! :) I think that I will do the premium plus along with LSLC nivel dos . I feel that it will be good to work on those two together as my next step.
Right now I am taking spanish in college as well as working with a native Colombian tutor 1-2 times per week so hopefully I'll gain some good progress!
Gracias!

I went through Premium twice and I am now doing Premium Plus. I bought the three levels right at the beginning. I also bought three more languages German, French and Italian. I guess the last three will just have to wait until retirement. It should keep me busy during my golden years. Thanks for everyone's input. I love this forum.
