Using spanish at work

I am trying to learn Spanish so that I am capable of conversing with clients. I am an inspector working with restaurants, swimming pools, septic systems, tattoo parlors, and several other specific situations. Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with these types of situations that really aren't covered in this course?

Hola Jodi, Are all your clients speaking only Spanish? I am gong to assume you have some Spanish speaking clients. I would suggest you begin with greetings. This would demonstrate to those clients that you have interest in talking with them in their native language. After this you will expand your spanish, learning the specific words and phrases related to your position. Here are two suggestions you may find helpful: 1. ¿Cómo se dice...(here you use your english word, for example "pump") en español? This translates to: How do you say pump? You can expand your spanish vocabulary ten-fold with this phrase. You can also point to any item and ask: ¿Cómo se dice? 2. ¿Que significa...? (here you use their Spanish word, for example "bomba")? This translates to: What does bomba mean? Bomba=pump I used this word because you mentioned septic tanks, and you may have pumps related to this. However, "bomba" also means bomb, and bubble. Hopefully, used in the correct context there would not be any confusion. ¡Buenas suerte!
