Glitch in point system?

I was just wondering was I the only person having trouble with the points updating? I know points aren't such a big deal but I do like to track my progress and my haven't been updating when I complete different aspects of the program. Thanks

My points usually update instantly, the only time they don't is when using the "Know It" sections. In that, you don't get extra points for a phrase or word which you already did in the "Hear It" part. Many of those sections have exactly the same phrases in both, so you will only get the points once.

I was aware of that but I am talking in general. My points aren't updating for anything. Games, rating lessons, etc. This isn't the first time I've had this problem. But it hasn't happened in a while so I was wondering if I was the only user who had this problem before.

The games never update points for me either, and some of the Language and Culture sections (at least in the French course) that involve conjugating verbs also aren't credited. I'm on a mac (OS 10.8.3 Lion) using Firefox 19.0.2.

I had a problem several months ago, but after a few glitches where the points wouldn't update for several days they have been working well. I hope we don't start having that problem again. I'm not sure about the games, because I'm so bad at them I never manage to get any points anyway!

Ok so I'm not the only one. Unfortunate it's not working but good to know. Thanks for the feedback.

To touch on something you said earlier, if you do the Know It section first, then you get points. But you then don't get points for doing the Hear It Say It section (of the same level). But overall, I haven't noticed any issues with points.

I am not having problems with points, but do find them extremely motivating. I seem to be working twice as hard just for the points :-)

Hi everyone - Hopefully I can clarify a couple of things here. Points are awarded for using Rocket Record on a particular word or phrase one time only. So, if you use Rocket Record in the Language lesson, Hear it Say it, and/or Know it, you will only get points for the first scenario used. I will get our development team to look into points being awarded for the games. They should be. Any suggestions for improvements appreciated!

My points have not been added since the 18th.. any idea why/how to fix it?

Hi SisterLuna - This seems strange as the points system is working correctly as far as we can tell. Can you please email support @ rocketlanguages.com with more detail.

thanks - seems to be working again now!

I, too, have problems with the points system. Sometimes they work and sometime they don't!

I noticed on one occasion, that the phrases in the Practice tab, which I played and recorded did not give me any points, but when I later recorded the very same phrases in the Level tab, they did award points.

Just now, on lesson 21.8 I am not getting points for phrases in either the Practice or My Level tabs and no, I have not done this lesson before.

Hi all - We are looking into this asap. It appears to only have effected some people. Sorry about any inconvenience!

I seem to be getting my points... sometimes delayed a little. Except for the checklist item #3 (Rating a lesson using My Level) which I've never got points for though I've rated every level I've taken so far. (I'm also on a Mac using Lion) (everyone appreciates their "gold stars" no matter their age, eh?)

whilst points may help motivate some learners, I hardly ever check mine. I've been learning approximately for a year now with a slight break (after our french holiday) now I've started again, planning for another holiday! But points wont mean anything when in France.

Hi jonnybegood - that's because your "gold star equivalent" is being able to speak the language well on your holiday. Motivation's motivation... some of us just need it in smaller and simpler doses to keep going. I do, anyway.

Kathleen, As my opening statement say's points will motivate some learners! And you are apparently one of those, good for you keep it up. I might be gold equivalent but it still feels as though I don't know anything when talking to a french person they talk so quickly and slur all their words. Good luck with your learning

I appreciate the points, just as a reminder that Im getting regular practise. I think there should be points designated for "every day" practise. That's when the real learning takes place, rather than over the course of one long session sporadically.

Great idea Kathleen! I do new lessons during the week and review on weekends. Repeating over and over again and daily practice are the key.

The other Kathleen here... daily practice and review are my standard. In addition to the RL content, I also listen to my Pimsleur course and the Deutsche Welle "Deutsche - Warum Nicht" audio (which is very cute and emphasizes the grammar in 15 minute bites)... on alternating days. Then I review and practice whatever RL lesson I finished a day or two before. It's good study practice as Kathleen S8 says to do so daily... Lumosity gives "props" to learners for doing at least three consecutive days as "learning streaks" ... so I agree, for those of us who like the points, extra points for consecutive days would be encouragement!
