Hi
There is no response from my recording in the 'Play It' Section, everything works (sound and recording) in all the other sections.
I am using Google Chrome, have tried IE but same problem, any ideas?

This is from another thread - things might work better if you give Flash permission to access your microphone without always asking. Recording now works for me in everything.

Because the speaking lessons need access to your microphone, the browser will ask you if the flash application (RocketChinese speaking lesson) can have your permission to control your microphone.
I checked into this and it is a very simple change outlined on the Adobe Website at the following link:

In short here are the instructions:

No. You can use the Privacy Settings panel to allow or deny access to your camera and microphone for all applications from this website without asking you for permission each time. To display the Privacy Settings panel:
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the application image while it is running.
From the context menu, select Settings, and then click the Privacy tab.
Clicking the "remember" box removes the need to constantly give permission.

The problem I am having is in the 'Play It' section (Rocket Italian) There is no response in my recording when I speak, it is totally blank, no sound or red sound wave. The recording works in all other the sections. It just stopped working in the 'Play It' section a couple of days ago.
Maybe the technicians are doing some work on the programme.

The one place where I find things "hang" from time to time is in the "Play It" section (only). I find that closing the web client and starting it up again fixes the problem.

I have tried that to no avail. In desperation I even downloaded fire fox, that just completely freezes, I wait and it tells me flash player has crashed try again. Oh well just skip the 'Play It' section I guess.

Graham, have you tried contacting Rocket Support? I would encourage you not to give up on this. Certain parts of the course have been more helpful to me than others at various points in time depending on where I've been at in the language learning process, but it is definitely "Play It" that is helping me the most now.
Personally Fire Fox used to be my browser of choice but I've had nothing but problems with it as of late. I have switched over to Google Chrome.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with Play It. Please note that the Flash settings used for recording in other sections of the lesson are different from those used in the Play it! test. If you can hear the tutor and see the script scrolling but can't record your voice, please click on Get Started, and then on the green Play It Help button. Click on the Flash Settings link found in the first paragraph, and make sure that the options "allow" and "remember" are selected under the Privacy Settings tab.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
Steven, I found closing chrome and restarting again nearly always fixes my problem now, a little time consuming but well worth the effort. Thanks again.

I can’t get the record and playback to work on my iPad. I installed Chrome and turned on the microphone in the Privacy settings. When I hit the record button there is no wavy indicator that it is recording. I quickly get the message, Sorry, I didn’t get that. What to do?

I am sorry to hear you are having problems recording when using our courses. Please note that when on a mobile device (phone, tablet, iPad) we highly recommend using our free app instead of the Chrome browser. If you haven't already, please install the app and try it there.

Using the app is fine, but I’m trying to do the Rocket Certification and it is not available on the app.

For the time being, the Rocket Certification tests have to be taken on a browser in a desktop/laptop.
