what is the benchmark test?

For what is the benchmark test? I've noticed it on my personal progress page, and wondered with what it is supposed to help me. Could you please clarify what it does for me?

Well, I don't know what Rocket's intentions were but it is a synoptic test covering an entire level, so I think it only becomes useful after you have completed a level. Then you can use it while you are revising to check your progress. You can take the test at intervals and hopefully see you score improving as your revision progresses.

I try it every few months to see how much I am progressing and in which areas I need more work.

Memory retention for the entire level. You are supposed to know the entire level. If you can score high marks or 100% in Level 1 then you will have no problems in Level 2.

Does the benchmark test require voice recognition/microphone? (As mentioned in another thread, I'm having microphone problems.)

Yes, for a few questions.

I've tried the Benchmark test a couple of times, and I am progressing.  That's encouraging.

The benchmark test requires the microphone but there is thankfully a function where you can score yourself if the microphone fails which it does on some occasions.
