How to make a link in a Forum reply

The edit window has an icon for a link, so I click it and get a popup for the link URL. I enter that, and click the check mark. The text of the link is inserted in my reply: https://app.rocketlanguages.com/members/products/1/tools/leaderboard

If I click on it while I'm editing, its background becomes blue and there's a tookltip I can click to open the link in a  new tab.

But … when I click on POST YOUR CONVERSATION, that link longer works. The link seems to turn into plain text, with no way to click it and go to that URL.

What am I doing wrong?

I've also tried highlighting some text (like the preceding two words) before clicking the link icon, but it has the same problem: active while I'm editing, but just plain text once it's posted.

You are doing nothing wrong, that feature doesn't work.  I did an entire post on which features work and which don't seven months ago, but I guess it hasn't risen high enough on the “to do” list for the tech folks.

Thanks Scott. It's disappointing that you reported these 7 months ago and they haven't been fixed yet. I've reported several things and they were all dealt with promptly, so I'm hopeful that the tech folks will fix the Forum issues soon.

Hi StanB-sweh and Scott_C,

I apologize for any confusion this is causing. Unfortunately, in order to prevent spam and phishing links from the forum, we do not allow users to post links. This is why your links are not working. I have edited both your links so that they are now clickable and work correctly.

Please let me know if you have any further concerns.

Thanks for the update, Jonathan. I was going to suggest that if links are turned off by design, the icon to create a link should be removed, but I see you've already done that.

It looks like they did exactly that. Thanks for removing a “button” to a feature that is not working (intentionally).
