A comment on learning a new language

Hi All

I have been trying to expand my vacabulary in several languages and find listening to songs (with the lyrics included) Also cooking videos are really helpful. I have found these great for expanding vocabulary.

What really excites me is when I realized there has been a progress. In Italian there is an opera song I love. “Voi che sapete” At first had no clue what they were singing about and now understand most of it. Also several Andrea Bocelli songs that he sings in Spanish.

So in my world it doesn't need to be just grammar drills, but fun stuff too

¡Hola Maxie!

That's a great point: watching practical videos and listening to music are also really beneficial ways of boosting your language skills! They let you pick up a lot of everyday vocabulary and they also tend to include a lot of repetition, so that you hear the new words over and over. Plus, if you sing along to the music, you can work on your pronunciation skills too!

If you're looking for any other outside-the-box ways to improve your language skills, you may find checking out our Expert Tips (located at the end of each Level 1 Audio lesson) helpful too - they explain various different learning strategies and give pointers.

Saludos,

Liss
