Mauricio - irritating in the extreme.

Am I the only one who would walk out of a shop if Mauricio were asking me what he could help me with. I live in Spain (I know this is a latin course) but I have never experienced any shop keeper so indifferent to offering a sensible level of communication. Don't get me wrong, I love this course, but I would love to tell Mauricio where he can stick it to be honest, the guy yells and gabbles borderline unintelligibly. No sale hombre, he really is a dick. ¿Qué haremos?

What lesson is this?

I am slowly working my way through Module 9 and don't recall that conversation. Some of the conversations are a bit hokey, but that is common with language programs. Real conversations are so complex compared to what they have to do (especially early on) in these lessons.

Hi

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

Sorry I don't seem to get emails when there has been a response.

It was lesson 4.1

No Sale Hombre was my own words, it is English, with hombre on the end. It means I am not buying it, man.

Sorry I was just frustrated with Mauricio’s barking, over acted gabble. It is not helpful, but I do love the course. I just needed to express myself. I know it is not going to change anything.

I am with you on the Ahs and Ayee LoL. I have lived in Spain for 20 years, I am doing this course to get my grammar sorted out after that length of time, learning on the fly by ear.

I appears to be the best Spanish course around, and the value for money can’t faulted.

I do give the course a sincere round of applause, as Spanish pronunciation is accepted e.g.  V = B (if I say “Va a lleVa” to a Spanish person, they literally don’t understand me, oh you meant “Ba a LLeBa” ). And I do get mocked for being too quaintly polite.  Even Madre rather than Mama, Coche instead of Caro all work. I occasionally say the wrong word, as I already have a broad vocabulary and am pleased and surprised that the people who built the course have built in Spanish Castellano  behind the scenes. Big props to them.

So sorry for venting, but Mauricio really did wind me up. No doubt he will carry on doing so.

I noticed that if you don't say ‘Ah’ at the beginning of a phrase it has no effect. Just say the phrase without the ‘Ah’ at the beginning.

¡Hola a todos!

I'm sorry to hear that Mauricio is getting on your nerves, Petax! He's an exhuberant speaker and may take a little getting used to. I'll be sure to pass on your feedback, though, and I'll also mention the “ah” issue as well!

Saludos,
