Solving the poor language recognition dilemma

I was having trouble with the language recognition software using windows 11 and a Chrome web browser but today I solved the problem. I bought a WMT 800 external microphone and plugged my Skull Candy Crusher ANC 2 headphones into the back of the mic and wah-lah, my problems were solved. I don't know If it had anything to do with the headphones I used or not but when, and only when I plugged the headphones in, the sensitivity of the microphone shot way up and for the first time the software was able to actually hear what I was saying, and not only that, but I was able to hear, through the headphones how I was pronouncing the words. The software would reject the words pronounced incorrectly and when I corrected my pronunciation it accepted them, just the way the software was meant to work. I bought the WMT 800 microphone at Amazon for $24.99

I have a Bose Quiet Comfort headset and it works, but on recording is distant. When I used my webcam microphone, the same. It worked but distant. Both gave me so-so results. Your headset had the same type of microphone (not directly in front of you).

When I used a headset with a boom microphone, I was clear as a bell on the recording and my recognition when to exactly what I would hope. I strongly suspect any dedicated microphone placed close to you would get similar results. Congrats on finding one that works well for a fairly low price!

Yes, I think you are probably right. Well, I guess then the only advantage to using the WMT 800 microphone previously mentioned would be the fact that, with your headphones plugged into the back of the mic, you can hear yourself as you speak the words. So, yeah, thanks for your input!

I was thinking your microphone was close to you. Do you have it directly in front of you? That would be very good news if you found a microphone you could set to the side and it still works very well. Thanks!

Scott_C, Yeah, well it has a cardioid pick up pattern so it's not right in front of me but I have it sitting on my laptop just to the right of my touchpad and I'm not sure just how far away you can get with it. I do know it's very sensitive though because you don't to speak much above a whisper for the Rocket Spanish program to pick it up.

Nice, sounds like a great deal for that price.  Had to look up cardioid pickup! That must be why it is so much better (since the generic computer pickup must be omni directional). Congrats, great find.
