Why como estas v como estas tu?

I do not understand the difference between como estas  and como estas tu?

 Both are: how are you? The tú is for emphasis.Think of it as a friend asks how you are. You reply : Estoy bien y ¿ como estás tú?  I'm well and how are YOU, emphasis, not shouting. Hope this helps.
