How is otra vez and de nuevo used as in meaning again?

Hi,
"Otra vez" mean another time or again.
"De nuevo" is a clasic example where translating just doesn't do it.. I'll try though.... translated to english would mean something like "renew it" but the meaning it expresses is "again".
I hope I haven't confused you... just keep in mind they both mean "do it again"

I seem to remember from somewhere that "de nuevo" means to start over again from the beginning.
