Como se or Como te?

I learned some years ago with another program to say “Como se llamas”.  Here I am getting “Como te llamas”.  How do they relate?

Formal vs informal.

Como se llamas is the formal version, something you would say to someone you want to show respect to.

Como te llamas is informal and would be used to a stranger your age or younger, or perhaps to a server, cashier, etc.

for the formal version, isn't it “como se llama” rather than “como se llamas”?

Good catch, you are absolutely correct. I did that exact same mistake speaking with a delivery driver.
