Explanations to the verb "ir"

There is an explanation in action replay, which says: A V is added to the start of each verb form to behave like the verb stem.

What does that mean? Can you give me some examples?

Normally you drop the “ir” when you are conjugating, but if you did that with ir, it would be strange. “Yo o." or “Tus as”. So they add a “v” at the begining of the congugated ir forms. Of course the first person is even more irregular with the y added. “Yo voy." “Tu vas." “Ella va."

Hope that helps!
