Hi,
I have been going through Rocket Spanish and finding the conversational stuff ok, but the grammar lessons very difficult even getting 0% on a quiz. I was wondering what should be done here as in should I just go over it? I have been doing ok with the conversational side, usually getting most right with the quiz and most of the time I can listen and respond ok, but the grammar though is another matter. Is there another grammar type thing on the course to help with the grammar so I could learn it another way rather than just reading, that doesnt seem that effective for my learning style.
Thanks
Anthony

Hola Anthony. Bienvenido al foro. Some people have recommended a paperback book entitled *English Grammar for Students of Spanish*, by Emily Spinelli. I've never looked at this book, but I thought I'd mention it because people have told me they've found it useful. The book _I've_ used most for grammar and HIGHLY recommend is called *Búscalo: A Quick Reference Guide to Spanish Grammar and Usage*, by William M. Clarkson and Guillermo Campos. It, too, is a paperback. I think both books are available from Amazon.com and other booksellers, and both books get very enthusiastic reviews on Amazon's site. The Spinelli book also can be "looked at" on the Amazon site, so you can see whether it seems to meet your needs.
I should add that no matter what program you use--Rocket Spanish, Learning Spanish Like Crazy, etc.--you're likely to want to have a grammar reference as well. There are also reference sites online, but I find having a book at hand more helpful.
¡Buena suerte!

hey! i have been taking spanish for two years, and picking up rocket lanuages makes the gramar seem so simple. one little thing that i find confusing is when to use por and parra. I noticed in one of the lessons that they said parra cuantas once, and then they said por cuantos another time, or something like that. anyway, i was wondering if you could help me clear that up! thanks

Hola michelle, bienvenida al foro. Many English speakers (including me) have a hard time with por vs. para. Basically, I've found that over time, it gets a bit easier as you hear and/or read more and more examples. You start to get a feeling for which one to use. But I still have trouble with these. There's no simple rule or tip I know that can make it all clear, but here are two sites that may help:
*__http://spanish.about.com/cs/grammar/a/porpara.htm__*
*__http://www.studyspanish.com/lessons/porpara.htm__*
If you Google "por vs. para" or something similar, you can find lots of others.
Espero que te ayude. Buena suerte.
