I seemed to have “hit a wall” trying to grasp indirect object, direct object, and combination pronouns. I'm bogged down on lessons 5.6, 5.7, 5.8
any tips? Thanks!

I am only a little ahead of you right now (starting 6.5 today) but by far those lessons were the hardest for me. What worked for me was just practice, practice, practice. I use Anki flashcards to accompany this course and those phrases popup pretty much every day. At first I barely could understand the concept, but with practice it became clear. Now I am just really slow as I think through, “OK, what is the verb acting on and for/to whom?”
One thing that confused me for a while was attaching them to the infinitive vs putting them before the conjugated verb. It took me a while to realize both are OK and the examples could be written the other way (almost always).
I spent extra time on 5.6-5.8 but then moved on as it was frustrating me. I recommend that as it will become better with time (and lots of practice).
Good luck!

¡Hola Lobo-Volador y Scott_C!
Object pronouns are certainly quite tricky when you first come across them, since English doesn't really work the same way!
My first recommendation would be to set the combination lesson (5.8) aside until you're feeling comfortable using direct object pronouns and indirect object pronouns on their own. Once you've got them down individually, it will become much easier to add them together.
I'd also recommend following Scott_C's strategy and moving on from these lessons for a bit if you're feeling frustrated. Your brain won't take in anything new if you're upset - but it will keep working in the background when you give yourself a break. Then, when you come back to the topic later and you're feeling calm, you may find that things seem much easier or more approachable.
Also, feel free to ask questions about the parts that are bothering you here on the forum. Are you having trouble grasping the placement of the pronouns, as Scott_C did, or is it more that you're not sure what the difference is between a direct and an indirect object? Whatever the case may be, feel free to post about it and our forum community will help you get it sorted out!
¡Ánimo!

Scott & Liss,
Thanks for the tips. I have taken your advice and will set those lessons aside for now and press forward. I will re-visit them from time to time and take it in smaller chunks. I noticed that througout most lessons a few pronouns get thrown in which will help increase familiarity as well as how to properly apply them.
Gracias por ayudarme, hasta la próxima.

¡De nada, Lobo-Volador! That sounds like a good strategy - and don't forget that you can always ask questions on here if you still need help when you come back to this topic!
