letter sounds

the alphabet recordings give a two syllable sound-ehche for example, but the sample word exercise seems not to follow the sounds as they are individually presented.  What is happening-why the disconnect between letter sounds such as W dohblevah, and how it sounds in a word with w?  Stupid question, I know, but maybe you can help.

I think the lesson is presenting the name of the letter in Spanish. In English the name of "W" is "double U", which has nothing to do with what it sounds like in "woof".
