How do you say “Send her a text message!”

Scott_C

Scott_C

I would say:

Mandale un mensaje de texto.

It is affirmative imperative in the informal.

It is in Lesson 12.6 but I learned it as I also practice with Duolingo.

Quick summary - you use the el/ella/usted present tense conjugation for the tú affirmative imperative.  If you use a pronoun (or pronouns),  then you must attach it (them) to the end of affirmative imperative.

Hope that helps!

¡Hola Scott_C y Ronald-w28!

Scott_C's suggestion would work perfectly for saying “Send her a text message”! Just to note, though, especially if you're putting this in writing: an accent is required over the first A in mándale. This is because the verb form (manda) is more than one syllable long and it has a pronoun added on to the end of it (le). So, the full sentence would look like this: Mándale un mensaje de texto.

You can find a full explanation on exactly how accents work with the imperative in the lesson that Scott_C mentioned: Lesson 12.6: “Telling People What to Do.”

¡Hasta la próxima!

I have used Google Translate in the past and one of my frustrations is it only offered one translation (especially if going from English to Spanish) as I knew there was more than one way to say nearly everything. DeepL Translate offers multiple choices!

I also like the dictionary just below the translation boxes. Sometimes I want to know a bit more about a word. Great resource, thanks for sharing!
