I am on Module 1.10 and am confused as to the placement of the pronoun in congunction to the verb. I notice that sometimes it is placed before the verb: “Tu eres muy amable” and sometimes after the verb: “”Necesita usted ayuda?" Please explain. Thank you!

In your examples, you compared a statement to a question. For a question, the subject pronoun goes after the verb, if you choose to use it. It is used if the speaker thinks there could be confusion or if they want to emphasize. Do YOU need help? If you are using usted, you can actually say usted to add even more formality.  Oh, and to make things even more fun, Caribbean Spanish typically puts the subject pronoun before the verb in a question.

To make things more confusing, for a non-question, you can also put the subject pronoun after the verb.  So as you can see, Spanish is very flexible when it comes to subject pronouns.

When I am speaking, I typically don't use them, but if I am, I put them before the verb in statements and after the verb in questions. Hope that helps!
