"quedo hacer un tour con mi familia" I would translate this as "I want to take a stroll / look around with my family." "con" means only "with". I'll take that burger "con queso"...

I checked lesson 2.1 in the Premium level Quiero hacer un tour con mi familia. I want to do a tour with my family This easy for me now since, this is the first verb I learned. I can't find quedo only quiero. Thanks for the question.

Thanks, Aurora. It is "quiero".

I had a hunch there might be more to 'con' than meets the eye so I googled it. Indeed, as I expected, it is more versatile than its English counterpart 'with'. Here is the link. http://spanish.about.com/od/conjunctions/a/con.htm Some examples from this link include the following. Usage with verbs: Es necesario *acabar con* el escándalo. It is necessary *to put an end* to the scandal. Para comer, *basta con* cinco dólares. In order to eat, five dollars *is enough*. Forming phrases that act like adjectives: Habla *con intensidad*. He speaks *intensely*. Indicating conditions: *Con decirle* que no tengo dinero, todo estará bien. *By telling him* that I don't have money, everything will be fine. Finally, there is 'conmigo' and 'contigo'.

In the context of Larry's original post, "con" is translated as with, as others have stated. The corollary of con is sin. I don't know about others, but I have found that word pairs like this have helped me learn vocabulary. con/sin aprender/enseñar abrir/cerrar construir/destruir comprar/vender etcétera...

Hola Dan, entiendo con y sin (with and without), comprar y vender (buy and sell), construir y destruir (construct and destruct) pero no me entiendo los otros dos. Por favor, puedes traducir?

I like this idea of learning in pairs. Gracias.

Jo:

Aprender/enseñar: Learn/teach

Abrir/cerrar: Open/close

Por nada,

Hi larryritchie,

You do not translate "con" as "without", it is actually an antonym. So in the sentence "Quiero hacer un tour con mi familia." Mauricio is specifying he would like his family to go along with him.

Jo--110,

Just adding to the comment:

aprender: to learn / enseñar: to teach

abrir: to open / cerrar: to close

I hope this helps! Regards!

" pero no me entiendo los otros dos..."

Your Spanish was great, in the sentence above you just have to omit "me".

" pero no entiendo los otros dos..."

Regards!
