I am curious to know como se dice ''floor layer'' en español?I have asked Mauricio and he suggested to ask in the forum....he couldn't find an answer. If no-one knows , then how do we say ''builder'' or ''construction worker''?
thanks for your help!

Not sure how helpful this might be but since no one else has offered an answer as yet I'll say that "stratum' means layer when it comes to layers of the skin. Might "stratum" together with "piso" convey what you're trying to say?

thanks for that nailteach , but that isn't what I meant. My job is floorlaying so that doesn't quite apply .Another way of saying it could be 'I lay floors '. Any idea?

Ohhh.. You mean a "layer of floors" rather than a "layer of the floor". Interesting how a such a small difference in words can equal such a big difference in the meaning. Sorry not to have been of any help.

Mauricio and I talked about this one at length. All I could think of was that, "Soy obrero" means, _ I am a laborer_ (construction worker), so perhaps "Soy obrero de pisos" might mean that you're a worker who deals with floors. What a tricky question!

You can say "instalo pisos" as Phillip Carracher said, which means "I install floors. If you say "soy instalador de pisos" which means "I am an installer of floors" or I am a floor installer" I think you will be clearly understood. If I remember, I will ask a Mexican friend (who does not speak english) that I talk to at work if this is okay.
