I haven't posted in a while but I have been busy keeping up with the buletin board and my practicing (and still enjoying it too).
A funny thing happened to me last week. I go to a local Mexican restaurant once a week to practice my Spanish (OK - I like the food and margaritas too). Anyway, I see the same regulars there and have become friends with them. One of then asked asked me if I could help him learn Spanish. Apparently he had been watching my progress over the last year or so. He said he and his wife are planning a trip to Spain and wanted to know if I would be willing to help him.
I was shocked. Somebody actually wanted me to be the teacher!! Is he crazy????
I have to admit I was a bit flattered by that and at the same time, I didn't really think I was good enough to help someone else. Well, I agreed to give it a shot and I have to say that I am actually able to help him quite a bit.
So, a lesson learned to share with you....
Don't underestimate your progress. If you are like me and it always feels like a stuggle when you try to converse with native speakers, don't assume that means you are not making progress. Keep working at it and don't give up!! Someday a newbie will be asking you for help and I gotta admit, that feels great !!
:)
Lessons learned...

Hola Tocayo,
Thats fantastic news, well done for taking it on. You will be amazed how much it will help your own Spanish, teaching somebody else.
Good luck.
Mauricio.

That is very good that someone would ask you to help them. Have you suggested that they buy their own copy of Rocket Spanish? Seems like if they did that and you went over the lessons with them, then they would learn faster and you would get a good review.
I am only on lesson 1.3 but I am itching to go to my favorite Mexican resturant and say something in Spanish. My fear is that the person I was talking to would come back with something that I didn't understand at all. LOL.
I had high hopes that my wife would learn with me and we could have conversations, but she is not as enthused as I am so that is not working out too good.

I never thought of going to a mexican/spanish restaurant to practice spanish. Its a good idea, I might try it.
Congratulations on becoming a teacher! May I ask how long you have been studying for?
