Mis amigos

This is homework from the beginning Spanish in the Senior Center. To write a paragraph consists of 5 sentences. Very simple sentences. I am not sure about the 5th and the 6th sentence. I googled for the translation and several sentences came out. The last sentence is mine. I am not sure whether I should use pedir or preguntar. Mis amigos van a venir a mi casa este fin de semana- Thanks, Rich El cuarto de baño está sucio La cocina está sucia Es importante tener una casa limpia Les voy a pedir a mi esposo y mis nietas que me ayuden a limpiar la casa - Thanks, Diana

I have a friend who bought the Rocket Spanish and could not get going. He ask me to be his tutor and willing to pay for it. I said yes. I know the first few lessons are pretty easy plus I need to review before starting to do more of the module tests. I already did the first one. This is actually another good motivation to learn a new language.

Hola Aurora, Yes, you should use pedir, not preguntar. A few suggestions: Mis amigos "vienen" a mi casa este fin de semana. Or, "vendrán" a mi casa.... Or, Mis amigos van a venir a mi casa ..... The translation sites sometimes are questionable in their offerings, one said "tienda de zapatos" rather than"zapatería". Huh? Teaching will help you learn. ¡Buena idea y buena suerte! Aurora - teaching is probably the best way to learn something. I am sure it will force you to study harder and think harder, particularly when your student asks, shall we say, interesting questions. Be ready to say "I'll get back to you about that".
