¡Hola! Me llamo Dan. Soy de los Estados Unidos. Estoy solo aprendiendo Espanol.
I am still in the first section so forgive my quick switch to English. I am still sorting out common phrases/questions and one has me confused: Que means "what," as in que haces, que suerte, que dia, etc. Early on I thought that "que bien" translated to "how great," which does not seem to be the case.
Can someone enlighten me? I find that I can learn things better if I understand the logic behind them.
¡Gracias!
Dan

Que bien, or Qué bien does in fact translate as "how great", or "that's nice" usually. Que is one of those little words that can be used as a pronoun, relative pronoun or conjunction, and is often found in expressions that don't quite translate well when taken literally.
Que paso - what happened
Que bueno - how great
Que pena - what a pity/shame
Que rica - how delicious!
Bien is another of those little words which translates as "well", but is used in many other ways meaning good, great or something positive.
