which platform?

I've just started the premium plus course and have come across the word plataforma for platform when talking about catching a train. However I've been using andén por ejemplo ¿De qué andén sale el tren para Malaga? I have also come across la via when talking about a train platform ¿De qué via sale? Is this a Latin American v Spain issue? John H
