Words for professor and primary secondary school teacher.

Just a point of interest. Is there a word in Spanish for a university professor? Several Spanish teachers have told me that it is the same as teacher; as in schoolteacher. Would one say: un professor de la Universidad o una professora de la Universidad? Thanks.

Hola! There are many words that we use, but, we mainly use "profesor", "maestro" and somethings "docente" and "Catedrático" (the one who imparts a "cátedra" as in lesson or class). Some other words are "enseñante" (the one who teaches). We use the same (at least here in Mexico) for a school teacher, a kindergarden teacher or a university teacher. Saludos!
