I tried Rosetta Stone, which I found hard to learn with. I tried Duolingo, which seemed easy at first, but then felt like I was just memorizing a bunch of phrases. I am now using Rocket Spanish and have finally found the right product. I appreciate how they concentrate on a limited number of words per lesson and have you really work with them to feel fairly confident before moving on to the next lesson and set of new words. I am only a few weeks into it but would recommend this program to anyone wanting to learn the basics of a new language.
I love the whole package. You can use it in the way that suits you best. I decided to speak first and read and write later. Now I can speak I find it easier to learn the reading and writing. Its totally amazing and exciting for me to be on my way to achieving my goal with the aid of rocket arabic, spotify and Michel Thomas method combined.
I highly recommend this package which is extremely good value and I love the rating you get from recording your speaking which helps you to become an authentic speaker.
Repetition is easy the way the lessons are organised and you can keep repeating lessons to really understand and remember.
it is a very nice app i would recommend it to any one who needs to improve
Rocket Languages really inspired that everyone can learn a different language always.
I think the course is very well structured and easy to follow. Speakers Nik and Paul are very nice. Recommended !
I couldn't use this software because it is boring and simple. it hurts to use it.

Hi Devin - I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. Have you had a look at the latest version with the all new layout?
I started learning Japanese for a vacation I was going to take in Japan (That got canceled due to the outbreak), after having taken a year of Japanese in college about 15 years ago. The lessons are good and clear overall. Sometimes they do not give very good explanations of the grammar they introduce, for example using -you in one lesson and -sou in the same and never explaining the difference. The quizzes can also be frustrating, because sometimes a lesson teaches multiple very similar words, and the flash cards do not make it clear which reading they are looking for. It'd be more useful if the quizzes had different combinations of the vocabulary and grammar we learned in the lesson instead of just repeating the exact phrases. That way we'd be learning the concepts and not just memorizing phrases.
Overall though the lessons are very useful and very helpful for learning Japanese when you don't have much time to spend.
I am an ESL teacher and I purchased both French and Spanish for my homeschoolers. I am impressed with how much they have learned and retained. We have tried many other programs and apps, but none seemed to have all parts of language learning offered. Rocket Languages is easy to use and helps to train the ear to native speaking. I like that it also encompasses reading, writing, and some parts of grammar without being overdone with endless drills. The only thing I would change is through the use of pictures to reinforce vocabulary possibly in a vocabulary flashcard sort of way. Overall a great program!
I started Rocket Spanish Level 2 last week. So far I’m super impressed. This program is extremely well produced, easy to use, and very effective. I am building on the basic Spanish course I took at a local college, so I decided to begin with level 2. It’s so much better than any of the other on line programs I’ve tried and previewed. And it’s an excellent value. I’m glad the program focuses on conversation, but also teaches important grammar rules and usage extremely well.
It's hard to accurately review Rocket Language Japanese, since the levels are so different in quality, but after 2+ years I believe that I can give you a very accurate impression of the first 2 levels, I hope, unless major changes has been made in 2019-2020 (I still haven't made it past level 2, and I haven't used the course since December 2019).
Level 1 is AMAZING! 5 stars! I couldn't recommend it more!
True story: after doing the first section, it helped me land a job in Japan!
I had to do an interview in Japanese via Skype (I needed conversational Japanese for the position), and several of the Q&A was straight of Rocket Languages Japanese Level 1!! I honestly felt that I only had basic Japanese, but the interviewer considered my level to be conversational Japanese and I landed the position!
Level 2 is such a disappointment! The conversations are wayyyy to fast compared to Level 1, and the target language is not anywhere near as useful for everyday living in Japan, I find. Keigo should be taught at a much later stage, and instead it would be much more useful to teach colloquial Japanese that you can actually use with your friends! When you use the masu form that is mainly used in the course, your friends will say: "Yeah...
