As a beginner I find it useful to practice pronounciation
The software is pretty good so far. Eventually, more interactive speaking via unexpected questions or commentary to respond to as well as slang would be useful. Entire, paragraphs of speech (some of which I assume will come in more advanced lessons) to have to parse and then respond to in a novel way it seems would be effective.
Also, since language seems to be acquired more effectively through speaking, a way of separating pure speaking instances from reading instances of the same words and phrases, would be useful. Developing learning which does not rely on picturing words in the mind first when they are spoken to you, but a purely separate verbal memory would seem to be useful.
The drilling of the material in various forms is effective. The repetition that comes from it is needed; I know by other experience.
Again so far so good!
Awesome! The best way to learn the French language! I highly recommend the Rocket French!
J'ai vraiment aimé ce programme mais je ne le fais que pour l'école
I have been so impressed with the learning experience with Rocket French. I've learnt more in three months than I did in six years at school (I got a 'C' at GCSE). The lessons are interactive enough to feel like I'm really gaining practical experience of the language, and the badge and points system keeps me motivated to practise every day.
I'm just starting the third module of level two and I feel like I'm well beyond where I was at school.
I've done hours of lessons so far and repeated some lessons to make sure everything is really sinking in. I recommend this as you'll find that repeating lessons a few times makes new stuff stick in your head!
I thought all the lessons would be audio such that you could listen in your car or with headphones while working out or walking but some require you to read and hear. I think even alphabet, numbers and grammar can all be made in an audio version. Also, I do not like the fact that you can’t stop and review an audio lesson. At least on an iPhone you can’t just stop a lesson and go back to the beginning. You have to let it play out until the end to start over.
The grammar (Language & Culture) lessons have a lot more English explanations and tables that don't work well as just audio.
On the iphone app, you need to expand the player at the bottom of the screen. With that you can use the slider to move through the audio!
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Looman - Thanks for your review.
I am extremely enjoying the learning French with Rocket French. Yes, I had a bit of background about french vocabulary, but I am gaining more and more confidence in French as the course enables me to record my pronunciation vis a vis authenticated french pronunciation. So, It helps me a lot in speaking. Wish I could able to download grammar part and vocabulary in compact PDF version.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Ravi - You can download the lessons as a PDF by printing the page and selecting "Save as PDF" from the printer options.
Wish there was more grammar lessons and verb conjugations.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Hannah - Make sure you check out the Language & Culture lessons, which have lots of detail on verb conjugations and other important grammar topics.
After 8 months of Duolingo, I felt that I wasn’t advancing much. I started a week ago with Lesson 1 of Rocket French and am quickly increasing my conversation skills and pronunciation. The explanations are excellent and very useful.
Although I've been with French for several months before, the free lessons of Rocket French are still good reviews. Certainly more useful than Assimil so far. I unfortunately don't have the funds to buy the full course right now, but I certainly would if I could!
