Very good! I am happy with how this program is but i wish there was more writing involved.
The fact that Keni and Sayaka, native Japanese, do the speaking, and then Sarah, an American, does the explaining, is quite helpful as it allows for you hear what it would sound when spoken by a native, but it is easier to understand when being explained. I am pretty happy with it so far, albeit I haven't really gotten that far in. I purchased all 3 lessons so I sure as hell hope its good all the way through! There seems to be around 200 lessons I have to get through, so it will certainly keep me occupied for a while. Here are my two complaints, I hope these are fixed in the future because I think it would truly be a nearly perfect language learning course after that:
#1. I think a lot of us have this issue. The microphone does not work well, even with headphones. It's often with shorter words, and I understand that's simply because shorter words are harder to pick up with speech recognition. Albeit, when the internet is slow, none of them work.
#2: This is the most important: what would be extremely helpful is text documents going into greater depth on grammar and structure. I know that we're sort of supposed to learn that long the way, but at the beginning you are left feeling sort of lost, and we will have to learn these rules at some point. Having a reference point to study up on would be infinitely helpful in terms of grammar. And this wouldn't even require much, I do not think--perhaps a PDF a few pages long telling the basic rules of Japanese.

Hi Aldrich - Thanks for your review. We are actually at the start of a project to completely redo the Rocket Japanese Language lessons so that they are far more closely aligned with the JLPT structure. We hope to have the Level 1 of these new lessons out within a couple of months. At the same time we will be looking at the voice recognition examples and making those better if need be.
I really like Rocket Spanish – what a great learning tool! I really like the mix of Audio Lessons (conversations) and Language & Culture Lessons (grammar). The Audio Lessons get you speaking and hearing Spanish in a conversation. After listening to the audio lesson you have separate sections that have you focus on Listening, Writing and Speaking – so you really get to engage in the lesson conversation. By the end of the sections I feel I am hearing the lesson directly in Spanish, rather than my brain doing any translating. I also very much like the voices of Mauricio and Amy. Voices are very important as anyone who has listened to an Audio Book knows. The Languages Lessons focus on grammar and they are excellent. Beautifully written, easy to follow and they really cover the material thoroughly. Each Language Lessons also has separate Listening Writing and Speaking sections so the grammar can really sink in. On a separate note, one feature I really like is the Voice Replay feature where your voice is automatically recorded and you can replay it to check on your pronunciation as well as verify you said what you thought you did.

Ethan, thank you for taking the time to leave such an in-depth review. It's wonderful for all of us here at Rocket to hear that the effort we've put into creating our comprehensive lessons is helping users like you and your friend take on new challenges in relation to your language learning. We really appreciate you being a part of our community and are excited to see what the future holds as you progress with your Spanish language learning!
Decent program, the voice recording and speak detection leaves a lot to be desired but at least it gets you to speak. My main issue is with the module tests at the end of the lessons, they crash and reset the entire test once you get to the end of a section. It is not worth doing.
Response from Rocket Languages
Hi Brian - We sent you an email asking for more clarification on the Module Tests issue. We haven't had any other reports of issues with this so would be keen to get to the bottom of it.

Thank you for being part of the Rocket community, Keneth! That's great to hear, and we wish you the best of luck tackling your language learning!
While I am still on Level 1 of Rocket Spanish, I am not only enjoying it but more importantly, I am actually learning to speak Spanish. I've been going over and over each sub-level until I am totally comfortable with everything - works for me. I am 67 and planning on moving to a Spanish speaking country in 2021, so naturally, I want to be a bit prepared.
Also, I am finding all of the optional exercises enormously helpful; I need to see the words and write them in order to lock them into my mind along with the meaning and pronunciation. I understand not everyone learns this way but I chose Rocket Spanish for this reason - along with the fact that they generously allowed me to try out the program first to see if I liked it. I love it!
I also plan on getting a few Spanish short story audiobooks and listening to Spanish-speaking podcasts once I have progressed more.
Highly recommend!
This app is amazing. It has helped me with French the second language I am trying to learn. It helps so much and prepares me when I eventually go to France to speak with the people. I think they have an amazing system and if you ever need help with another language. Rocket Language is the way to go.

Hi, i am new using this app, so far i see this app so good. so interactive. but i find some bugs.
In french lesson, in every intro when 2 people do conversation, its always have a dialog words/script bellow. but today i try another language like germany. there isn't any dialog words/script below the conversation. I hope you adding it soon, because there many information which i didn't find in the notes there. regards C.Blake

Hi Kangabu - It sounds like you have adjusted the settings on the "Play it!" activity. At the top right of the activity there is a settings button, which allows you to show/hide various parts of the text to make it harder!
I have found no better method for learning Spanish than using Rocket Languages audio lessons while driving to and from work every day.
Prior to learning Spanish with Rocket Languages I tried and failed to learn Spanish for almost 20 years. Albeit, I wasn't attempting to learn Spanish for the entirety of that 20 years, but given the fact that I grew up enrolled in Spanish lessons or classes from the time I was 4 to the time I started high school at 14 years old, you would think I would have remembered something. Not the case. I basically forgot everything I learned once I was no longer being forced to learn by school and my parents.
Then, in my adult life I recognized I would need to know Spanish fluently to achieve what I most wish to accomplish in this life. That left me, at twenty five years old, wishing I had actually applied myself all of those years in elementary Spanish while I was growing up, and feeling like I was "too old" to learn a new language.
My time with Rocket Spanish has utterly obliterated any notion of being "too old" to learn a foreign language. Now I learn Spanish using their interactive audio lesson every day while I drive to and from work.
